2019/20 SEASON
Our 2019/20 Season, which marks our 16th year as a producing theatre company in Seattle, celebrates magnificent and transcendent forces of nature that change the way we live. Stories about those who unleash themselves from the confines of a uniform worldview and embrace an expansive and intimate cosmic power, demanding a culture shift. We call this an act of the Divine. How do you find the strength to disrupt the story, to right the wrongs, to alter the course of history? We are presenting a season of plays about commandeering and liberating your own narrative; a season about elusive transformations, divine interventions, and glorious metamorphosis.
Our genre-defying season is stylistically kaleidoscopic; Spaghetti Western, feminine mystique, modern dance realness, classic old timey thriller. WET is passionate about a revisioning of what you can expect to see at the theater. The stories we tell, the way we tell them, and the audiences that come with us are all a part of the powerful season we have for you.
WET will celebrate stories about characters who rewrite their history and take no prisoners. You’ll witness a quasi-fable about the indomitable power of women scorned; a story about the supernatural and cutthroat world of a preteen competitive dance team; a queer-centric pop culture collage that transforms the mundane into the virtuosic; and an examination of the cosmic duality of good and evil. Revel in the beauty of ritual and rite, histories and futures, and the sacred and mystic.
